This head or helmet mask was worn on top of the head. Masks representing all kinds of animals or human traits were paraded at annual tribal dances to commemorate the planting season. Some of the masks showed realistic features, while others were totally abstract like this one which represents a crocodile with the open jaws in front and the powerful tail at the back.
