The Luba produced numerous prestigeous objects, decorative stools being a favourite They were used at official ceremonies, not just to sit on, but also to display the owners personal wealth. The side view shows a unique feature where the head is almost doubled up in length and the middle section hidden by the hands and forearms, probably to give extra strength and balance to the seat, but also to create a more balanced sculpture.
