Typical oval face style of the Solongo in Northern Angola. Nkisi are generally fetish figures with secret medicines or magic potions attached all around the body or even hidden inside behind a glass miror. I purchased this figure in 1974 when I saw it displayed in a local shop amongst typical  tourist items, some of them made in China, not even from African soil. I bought it instantly as no one there was aware of it’s true value and history.
