Writing tablets like this one were originally created for Muslim converts to write parts of the holy script of the Koran. Most Mambila people have remained with their traditional religion, but some have converted to Christendom and to Islam. As a tool to record holy text from the Koran, this tablet had to be without any of the traditional Mambila details, but the heart shaped head in typical and traditional Mambila style gives away it’s origin.
